Golden Sails is sort of like a big world, life size and everything. There are currently no set names of towns, oceans, lands, and what not, nor are there any set locations. Infact, the world doesn't even have a name as far as I can tell. Currently I suppose the roleplaying world can just be refered to as Golden Sails...or Golden. If any one has a request, feel free to speak it.
Time Period
Because Golden is basically a whole different world, it obviously won't be in the same time periods as the real world. But, I suppose it could be based around the Medieval time period, combined with whenever vikings, pirates, and what not where around.
Weapons
For now, the only weapons allowed are simple weapons. Perhaps things resembling guns, but no actual guns. Anything that is as powerful as guns should be imagined directly from the thinker, and should come from a certain species. Ex. Large, muscle-needed weapons would come from a stronge, large species, while, small, more complexly made and/or triggered weapons may come from a swifter, or more intelligent race.
Transportation
Most transportation should be by means of an animal, or simple, non-motorized contraption. There can be flying machines, although they may be as simple as a hang glider, unless it is powered by magic(although magic is few and far apart in Golden). And of coarse, ships, although feel free to get creative on whatever floatation device characters use.
Money
Some sort of coins, rock, or something of the sort would be fine. There is no keeping track of money, but keep in mind that if your character is poor, they will not be able to afford many things, and if your character is rich, they are rich for a reason.
Magic
As I said before, there are few magic users and few ways of magic(due to the complete complication of all things magic in roleplaying). If you wish to bring in a magical character, do it for a reason, and try not to make them a main character. For spiritual things such as heaven, Hell, luck, fate, and all that jazz, do what ever you want. If your character happens to get killed, I have no problem with you playing them as after life, or someone trying to get them from a land of the dead. If they happen to be very unlucky for a reason and you want to roleplay them finding out why, have at it.
Logic
Golden should contain logic for why things happen. This logic does not have to follow the real world. Just realize that the planet has rules, the species have rules. Even if your going to make something appear miraculous just to save your character, make up a GOOD reason why it happened!
That's all for now, just ask if you are still wondering on something.
